RHASS releases annual results against backdrop of an uncertain future

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has reported its results to the year 30th November 2019.

Organisers of the Royal Highland Show – Scotland’s showcase of food, farming and rural life – have embarked on a new initiative to fill, in part, the void left behind following the cancellation of the this year’s show.

ADJOURNMENT of AGM

The 236th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland was due to be held on Wednesday 29 April 2020. As a result of the restrictions on gatherings due to the impact of Covid-19 it will be adjourned to a date to be announced.

RHASS announces cancellation of 2020 Royal Highland Show

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has today confirmed that the 2020 Royal Highland Show will not go ahead as planned due to restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Opportunity to attend the Oxford Farming Conference

As we head towards the end of 2019 and our thoughts turn to the New Year, RHASS would like to give a young and ambitious person from or based in Scotland the opportunity to attend the Oxford Farming Conference, which is taking place on 7-9 January 2020.

Notice of Election of Ordinary Directors

RHASS Members are entitled to stand for election as an Ordinary Director for the area in which they are resident. Nominations are now open for Ordinary Directors for the term 2020 - 2024. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Wednesday January 8th 2020

Meet our new President - Fiona Armstrong

This year’s Presidential Team hail from Dumfries and Galloway. Fiona Armstrong, Lady MacGregor and Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries, leads the team this year as President. As a renowned regional and national broadcaster, Fiona has championed the Scottish countryside through her presenting work on programmes including Border Life and River Journeys. We spoke to Fiona to find out how she got involved in farming, what her hopes are for the Presidential Team over the coming year

RHASS Regional Roadshow 2019

Building on last year’s successful series of roadshows featuring Doug Avery, key staff and local directors toured Scotland during October and November to hear from Members on their home turf.

RHASS announce 2020 Nuffield Farming scholar

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland has awarded funding for the 2020 Nuffield Farming Scholarship to Emma Patterson-Taylor from Edinburgh. Emma, a project manager from the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society (SAOS), will undertake a study into the position of farming in the public consciousness.
