Equestrian entries open for RHASS Showcase

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has today launched its online entry portal for equine entries for this year’s Royal Highland Showcase.

Taking place over the week of 14th to 20th June, the Showcase, a first of its kind event in the UK, will see the best in livestock judging, equestrian, food & drink and rural skills livestreamed from the Ingliston showground in Edinburgh to a global audience.

Entries can be made online at royalhighlandshow.org for Heavy Horse, Light Horse, Heavy Horse Turnout, Harness Grooming & Decoration, and Private Driving. They will close on 21st May.

There will also be an Arena Event held on Sunday 20th June as part of the Showcase.

The schedule and further information will be available in early May when entries for Show Jumping open.

Entries are open to all of the UK, subject to Scottish Government restrictions closer to the time, with overnight accommodation available for exhibitors the night before their class to enable those who need to travel from afar to compete. Full information on this is available online.

Heavy Horse classes will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, with Heavy Horse Turnout  and Private Driving on Wednesday. Friday and Saturday will see the Light Horse (including HOYS qualifiers) and Show Jumping will run from Thursday to Sunday. Schedules can be found on the Royal Highland Show website, and confirmed full schedules will be published mid-May once all entries have been received.

The majority of classes will be live streamed across up to four channels as they happen from Ingliston, with others being featured in an ‘on demand’ section of the website for later viewing that week and will be hosted on the site for up to 3 months after the event. All content will be free to access, with RHASS Members gaining access to an exclusive ‘Members Only’ area of the website.

RHASS Chairman, Bill Gray, commented:

“We have been energised by the positive responses we’ve seen to the Showcase so far and the equestrian community is no doubt eagerly anticipating the opportunity to get back into the rings.  We know that this will be an important event to reconnect and come together after a tough year and we are delighted it will be livestreamed across the world.”
